Paul is a long-term Queensland Park Ranger with more than a decade of experience across many of the national parks of South East Queensland. A native of the UK, working as an aviation mechanic for many years, Paul made the courageous decision to move half-way across the world to settle in Australia to begin a new life for himself and his family. Like Damian, Paul is also a passionate dog owner (Rosie), they enjoy going to dog parks together where Rosie trains Paul to be a better Owner!
1What was your favourite thing about moving to Queensland?
The open and friendly nature of Queenslanders When I first moved here I chatted to people at the bus stop, they were so welcoming and responsive I couldn’t believe how approachable everyone was. I fell in love with place very quickly.
2What do you enjoy about Mt Tamborine and what do you want your guests to experience?
The variety of national parks, the sweeping views to the west, north and the east over-looking the city. They are quite spectacular.
I want my guests to feel the rainforests, the diversity and to have had a unique experience and gained a great understanding the of the national parks and how they work.
3Describe your perfect day on Mt Tamborine
Enjoying a long walk in the forest escaping the hustle of everyday life and getting the chance to truly relax. Then afterwards enjoying a tasty lunch and visiting one of the local wineries before watching the sunsets over the west.
Prior to becoming a Park Ranger, Paul was as an aviation mechanic for 15 years. In his down time he enjoys tinkering with VW’s as well as taking his Labrador "Rosie" to dog agility classes.
